FAQs

  • Yes. Classes are welcoming for beginners and improvers.
If you’re completely new to Pilates or working around an injury, Friday mornings in Shepherd’s Bush (W12) may be the best starting point, as it moves at a slightly slower pace.

  • Please bring a mat, wear comfortable clothes, and ideally a more fitted top so I can see your spine and alignment clearly. Bare feet or socks are both fine; socks don’t need to be grippy.

  • Absolutely — my classes are open to everyone. Strength-based Pilates is especially beneficial for men who may have limited flexibility or core instability from other sports.

  • Yes. Classes can be purchased on a pay-as-you-go basis, space permitting. But please reserve a space in advance. NB Clients with block bookings will be given priority.

  • I offer modifications and supportive options throughout every class.
However, some more complex conditions are better managed in 1:1 sessions, especially if you’re completely new to Pilates.

If you’re recovering from back pain or a recent flare-up, you might find the 6-Week Back Health Programme more supportive to begin with.

  • All you need is a mat and a laptop, tablet or phone with enough space to lie down comfortably.

You’ll position your camera so I can see most of your mat, allowing me to give live feedback on your form and technique, just as I would in an in-person class.

No special setup is required: simply click the Zoom link and join from home.

  • Not at all. Pilates helps you build strength, mobility and confidence gradually. You simply start from where you are.

  • You’ll be absolutely fine. My classes are calm, steady and thoughtfully paced. You’re always encouraged to move in a way that feels right for you.

  • Classes are small, around 8–10 people, so you receive clear cueing, tactile guidance (in-person only) and careful observation throughout.

  • Nikki Grass teaches mat Pilates in Hammersmith (W6) at The Grove Neighbourhood Centre in Brackenbury Village, and in Shepherds Bush (W12) in St Stephen’s Parish Hall on Uxbridge Road. Classes also serve clients in the surrounding areas including Chiswick (W4), Notting Hill (W11), Kensington (W8) and Acton (W3).
